Happy Birthday, Doctor.

Tis David Tennant’s birthday! For a whole one more minute! The wee skinny lad is 37.

Bless, hooray and hurrah! Brilliant, fantastic, and super!

I feel this calls for a celebration with my favourite picture:

Yeah, so maybe he’s sat in a wardrobe sipping tea.

But that’s why he’s lovely and suited to being the Doctor. Because he’s a complete dork.

May he live long and prosper. *

Yours fangirlishly,
Abs x

*I switched shows. So sue me.

Hey, remember that optimism I had?

All gone now.

Cut for Doctor Who Series 4 spoilers. You are advised not to read if you are avoiding them, don’t watch Doctor Who, or know the spoilers and are fond of the character they contain.

Hey, remember that optimism I had about Doctor Series 4? Well, Mr T Davies has ruined that, because the lovely Rose Tyler will be coming back, and there is sure to be kissing and hugging and ‘Oh Doctor all I have done is waited for you and not got on with my life because I am incapable of moving on despite the resurrection of my DEAD DAD’ and ‘Oh Rose you are the only thing that makes my life worth living despite the fact that I have had many companions of lesser, equal or greater worth and recently found another time lord but hey, another of my species can’t compare to a shopgirl who likes chips’ and ‘let’s make babies and have mortgages’ and seriously Rose, just GTFO of my fandom, kthnxbye.

It’s not even Rose I had the problem with, she was fine if too clingy and childish for my tastes in Series 2. But it’s the ‘ROSE IS MORE SPECIAL THAN ANYONE ELSE’ stuff they’ve thrown in since I have the problem with. Russell T Davies resurrected Doctor Who, which I thank him for. But he also ruined it.

DAMN HIM DAMN HIM
AND DAMN ROSE TYLER.

Final Thought Before Bed

You know, people have criticised the new Master for the mass murdering and the near-destruction of Earth, not to mention the manipulating of reality, the keeping his enemy in a tent with a dog bowl, and the trying to conquer the universe thing but really, if you were suddenly an evil dictator with control of a whole planet, would you not be sorely tempted to blare annoying dance tunes across the globe at all hours of the morning?

“WAKE UP, CITIZENS, BECAUSE IT’S 3AM, AND I DON’T FEEL LIKE DANCING!”

“CITIZENS OF THE EARTH, KNOWING ME, KNOWING YOU…”

WE BUILT THIS CITY ON ROCK AND ROLL, AND THEN I CRUSHED IT. OH DEAR. STILL, TIME TO PLAY THE SONG.”

It would be excellent.
All my actual favourite tunes I’d play privately, in my own room, with headphones, whilst everyone else listened to Rihanna on repeat. Especially Rihanna herself.

… Mind you, I’m fairly sure the Master actually liked them, so…

Well, he gets points for style, anyway.

When you see this post, quote from Doctor Who on your LJ blog.

”How about that? … I win.”

The People’s Choice (HELL YES)

WARNING

SPOILER-FUELLED SPECULATION & SQUEEING ABOUNDS INSIDE

SERIOUSLY, IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE SPOILED FOR THE SERIES FINALE,

DON’T CLICK

HERE.

… He’s coming back. Koschei’s back, the Master’s alive. And he’s being p-p-played b-by JOHN SIMM.

And possibly - mark this - possibly also Derek Jacobi. DEREK JACOBI.

A THREE PART FINALE. A PROPER STORYLINE WITH RESOLVED ARCS AND absolutely no UST AND GRATUITOUS OLD SCHOOL REFERENCES AND MARTHA SAVING THE DAY. AND JACK. AND GALLIFREY ANGST, DID I MENTION THE ANGST?

The Master’s coming back to Doctor Who. Some of the greatest actors of modern television will be onscreen together.

I’m so happy I could cry.

“This is my timey-wimey detector… and it can boil an egg at thirty paces, whether you want it to or not…”

point: why is it that posts with my writing in always seem to get the least comment? even if it’s because I’m THAT bad, I’d love some constructive criticism…

Anyway, we had fun at Sarm’s party yesterday, and I had a genuinely wonderful day at Jim’s today, doing little of anything and piles of nothing in particular, and it was perfect. Well… I say perfect, but I use that in context. I don’t think anything could ever be perfect… a perfect moment? Well, perhaps there have been some, indeed there have; that night on the field in September springs to mind instantly, but regardless… I’m not fond of the word.

This could be a perfect day, though.

SPOILERS FOR BLINK BELOW

Doctor Who was AMAZING - I am now terrified, as in so scared I have to keep looking behind me and have the Weeping Angels screaming at me in my head and am seriously considering whether I should watch it again tomorrow because of how scary it was. The supporting characters were so beautifully written and acted that I found myself not even caring that it was Doctor-light - particularly as the Doctor’s presence was felt throughout regardless, and Martha, oh Martha with the bow and arrows at the end, I love her, I really do - and Moffat has once again pulled genius out of the bag; can he do no wrong?! The idea of a monster that you can’t look away from, blowing off the board the logic of “I can’t see it, it can’t hurt me,” and rendering hiding behind the sofa or closing your eyes useless; now that’s really scary.

Uhm… Utopia looks to be a bit shit next week, or is that just me? Anyway, Jack’s back, so I’ll forgive them as long as there is UST and ST and Jack is Jack again, but keeping some of his Inner Manly Angst.

Anyway, WHY MOFFAT, WHY YOU GOTTA SCARE ME SO? With that montage at the end and just AAARGH I will never ever look at a statue in the same way again. Also, graveyards and churches. Nada.

SPOILERS END HERE

Nyeah. Sleepy.

=)

Got the Eagles stuck in my head too.

Anyway, nanight.

He’s like the night and the storm in the heart of the sun; he’s ancient and forever…

Also,

re: Doctor Who?

I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO EXCITED ABOUT A TV PROGRAMME AS I AM FOR THIS FINALE. If Saxon is who everyone expects him to be I think I will cry with happiness. Martha has kicked so much arse this season (and by the way, in Human Nature, isn’t John Smith an absolute cunt? if I were Martha, I would have killed him by now, but I suppose she’s better than I am) and Ten has really had an excuse to exercise those emo-glands, but in a good way. In addition, is it necessary for him to mount the TARDIS every five seconds? (cap by nostalgia-lj)

At 7pm, on the BBC, the Doctor mounts the TARDIS. I mean, really, I know it’s true love and whatnot, but this may be going too far.

I love Martha, she’s smashing, and in a way I hope she and Jack don’t get on, it’ll make it more exciting… but at the same time I want there to be a happy TARDIS of love. Also, that ‘unrequited love’? Let me state now, RTD, that this is bollocks of the highest degree, and you know it. Yes, you do. He’s just a man who’s sad about his last lover - grieving, as it were - and finding it difficult to accept that he has found someone new. That’s natural. It does not in any way mean he doesn’t feel it as he does. Let us not forget this is the man with a ‘girl in every fireplace’.

In addition? If he brings back That Guy Who We Assume Is Saxon (PLEASE) then there is no excuse for not bringing back Her Who Is Fred (and Dead). Fans will know who I mean.

Doctor Who is making me happy like it has not done in a while, and I’ve been pretty happy for a while. Finally, a companion I can stand! Oh, the joy that is mine.

In conclusion, here; have a picture of two Tennants.

DON’T THEY MAKE YOU HAPPY IN YOUR PANTS?

Coming soon, to a blog near you…

So, I noticed that Films and TV in my category list was looking a wee bit pathetic, coming just above the HUGENESS that is Life. So I racked my brains and here is my conclusion; a rant about Why Doctor Who Is Awesome.

Now, since this will take a while, I’m asking for some collaboration. So, those of you with little better to do, who like Doctor Who and want to chat about and help me write a rant on the subject, contact me please. Leave a comment or buzz me on MSN. We will be dissecting the bad bits, looking at why the good bits are good, and discussing what is better; old or new series. We’ll even be doing some mindless squeeing in points, and some ANGRY CAPSLOCK in others. It will be just like a review. Only more biased and more fun.

So, watch out for…

I’m on another planet with you…

WHY has no-one made one of those YouTube things to this song for the Doctor? It is PERFECT in almost every way and if I had the clips, the time, the patience or the skill I would do so.

Always flirt with death
I could kill but I don’t care about it
I can face your threats
Stand up tall and scream and shout about it

I think I’m on another world with you, with you.
I’m on another planet with you, with you.

You always get under my skin
I don’t find it irritating
You always play to win
I don’t need rehabilitating

Another girl, another planet
Another girl, another planet

Space travel’s in my blood
And there ain’t nothing I can do about it

Long journeys wear me out but
Oh no, I can’t live without it

I think I’m on another world with you
I’m on another planet with you

Another girl is loving you now

Another planet is holding you down

Another planet

SERIOUSLY SOMEONE EITHER SEND ME CLIPS OR DO THIS. I HAVE THE ENTIRE VIDEO CREATED IN MY BRAIN AND IT’S SOOOO GOOD.
