Thoughts of a Blogger

thoughts n, pl.

  1. The act or process of thinking; cogitation.
  2. The products of thinking; an idea.
  3. The faculty of thinking or reasoning.
  4. The intellectual activity or production of a particular time or group: ancient Greek thought; deconstructionist thought.
  5. Consideration; attention: didn’t give much thought to what she said.
    1. Intention; purpose: There was no thought of coming home early.
    2. Expectation or conception: She had no thought that anything was wrong.

anarachism n. (sing. anarchist)

  1. The theory or doctrine that all forms of government are oppressive and undesirable and should be abolished.
  2. Active resistance and terrorism against the state, as used by some anarchists.
  3. Rejection of all forms of coercive control and authority: “He was inclined to anarchism; he hated system and organization and uniformity” (Bertrand Russell).

Yes. Well.

The reason I named this blog is very simple. I liked the name. Perhaps ‘Thoughts of a Rambler’ ‘Thoughts of a Thespian’ ‘Thoughts of a Teenager’ or ‘Thoughts of a Communist’ would have been more accurate.

But it doesn’t really feel the same, does it?

Thanking you for almost 1 year of blogging.

Yours for now,

Cardiff: All your Doctor Who are belong to us.

WTF?!?

Seriously, WHAT is with my friends at the moment? I count… ooh, 2 people who have reasons to be emo. And one of them isn’t being emo. ARGH. PEOPLE. They suck and I shall go and become friends with my chessmen, because they love me. Don’t you, Mr RookyWooky?

>_>

So, Doctor Who, eh?

Well, it’s certainly a rollercoaster ride at the moment. The Cybermen 2-parter, ‘Rise of the Cybermen’ (you have no idea how tempted I was to type ‘rice’, there) and ‘Age of Steel’ was amazing, then the rubbish generally known as ‘The Idiot’s Lantern’ was churned out. May I be irritated for a second?

WHY ARE THE TWO BRILLIANT WRITERS MOFFAT AND GATISS SEEMINGLY UNABLE TO WRITE THE GOLDDUST THEY WROTE FOR ECCLESTON? Is it Tennant? Why? Is it… I don’t know, the time period? What is wrong with you? And when you have told me, let me help you!

So, the one liners are still flowing freely, and long may they continue to do so. And both TIC and ‘The Girl in the Fireplace’ had some poignant moments (eg, The Doctor losing Reinette, Rose being stuck in a TV screen), some scary moments (Tick Tock, anyone?), some good supporting characters, (Madame de P and Magwitch will be remembered for a while). But this does not change the fact that Tooth and Claw, an RTD SCRIPT, was better than either of them, imho.

It appears, naturally, that I’m swimming against the tide here. Many seem to be besotted with TGitF, and some are even now gushing over TIC. But I don’t think even the things listed above are able to turn these lumps of turd into gold.

Ah, yes. And by the way? The ‘Doctor Who?’ joke? IT’S BEEN DONE. MANY. MANY. TIMES.

[/rant]

But, we have had some genius moments. And I’m not saying I could do better, because I couldn’t, to be fair. School Reunion was brilliant, I’ve already stated my opinion on RotC, TAoS, and TaC. And New Earth wasn’t too shoddy, I suppose.

The cast have been good, the sets have been reasonable, and the costumes scrummy. Billie Piper and Noel Clarke have surpassed what I hoped, and Tennant…

Has had gratuitous ’specs moments’ and ‘crotch shots’ just about every episode, which makes my inner fangirl do this: SQUEESQUEESQUEE!!!!!!!121one!!!! His hotness and acting ability cannot be denied. Whether he’s a good Doctor or not - well, that’s a subject for another time. He’s not bad. Not bad at all.

Yeah.

Off on a YPC residential tomorrow, should be fun - am dressing like a hippy. Photos to be posted soon.

Oh, how I want a top hat.

Yours for now,

Food for Thought.

Oh yeah. And I just came up with this:

‘A sceptic is only accepting of septic scepticality, except when the sceptic is accepted.

Just a thought.

ear =/= pencil sharpener

Outcast Genius
65 % Nerd, 86% Geek, 69% Dork
For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.

A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.

A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.

You scored better than half in all three, earning you the title of: Outcast Genius.

Outcast geniuses usually are bright enough to understand what society
wants of them, and they just don’t care! They are highly intelligent
and passionate about the things they know are *truly* important in the
world. Typically, this does not include sports, cars or make-up, but it
can on occassion (and if it does then they know more than all of their
friends combined in that subject).

Outcast geniuses can be very lonely, due to their being
outcast from most normal groups and too smart for the room among many
other types of dorks and geeks, but they can also be the types to
eventually rule the world, ala Bill Gates, the prototypical Outcast
Genius.

Congratulations!

THE NERD? GEEK? OR DORK? TEST

Hello there. I can’t remember why I was blogging today, but I’m sure there was a reason… Hmm. Ah well. There is something I can fill this pointless space with - I am now officially allowed to squee over Mr Tennant. Yes, I have found on the wonderful world of agentcompassion a licence to squee! Behold:

I like it. I like it a lot.

*insert witty title here*

… Yeah. Work Experience, Day One today. Too tired to explain, save that I went to Uplands School for kids with Downs and Autism and Other Such Whatnots, and I’m knackered.

ALWAYS take a banana to a party with you, Rose. Bananas? Are good.

Two Words.

One is Doctor. I’ll leave you to work the other one out, but here’s a hint: it begins with ‘W’, and ends in ‘HO’.

Yes, Sophie. I mean Doctor WeeeeblefishgaHO.

But, blimey, what a rollercoaster ride it’s been. I mean, since I last blogged, I’ve moved into a pub, moved out again, got a job, lost the job… oh, and watched Doctor Who. The links to my reviews may be seen here:

Yes. The others will be up when I can be bothered.

And on the romantic front… oh, wait, I don’t have a romantic front. Ah well, tis all. I’ll blog later with somethingorother that’s interesting. Til then… I leave with you this thought.

David Tennant is FUCKING FIT. This is all.

Anyway.
